All You Need is the RIGHT Map to Get There!

Map? Who needs a map? Nearly everyone I know has a GPS these days.

It hasn’t always been that way, though. Not so many years ago you were lost without a map (both literally and figuratively). Thankfully, you could get them almost anywhere: the drug store, the variety store, even some grocery stores and restaurants. If you still couldn’t find the one you needed, all it took was a quick trip to the gas station. Many stations even gave them away free.

The first thing on the to-do list if you were planning to go somewhere unfamiliar was to go grab a map of that area and begin to study it to find the most efficient route to get there.

IT WASN’T JUST A PLANNING TOOL THOUGH

That map (or stack of maps, if you were embarking on a long road trip) was the most crucial item on the packing list. The last thing that was spoken before the key was turned and the automobile motor roared to life was, “have we got the map?”

It was the thing that got us where we wanted to go. And if, by chance, we took a wrong turn, it was the thing that would help us get back on track.

WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ME?

One of the hardest things to do when you’re broadsided with something like finding out about the extent of your husband’s sexual struggles is trying to figure out what you should do now that you know.

Maybe you’ve asked questions like these:

  • Where do I start?
  • Do I buy a book? Which book?
  • How can I help my husband find healing?
  • What do we need to focus on first? What can wait?
  • Is anything I’m doing actually going to make things worse?
  • How can I ever be able to trust him again?
  • What about me? What do I need?
  • How can I ever feel good about myself after this?

I remember so many of those very questions running through my mind when I first found out that my husband was struggling with sexual addiction. Since then I’ve heard some or all of those same words come out of virtually all of the wives I have counseled.

WE DO NEED A MAP!

As I pondered this common dilemma over the past month or so, I began to realize something.  The women who have successfully negotiated their way back to a life of peace and purpose, not surprisingly, have all followed a very similar sequence of events.

I’ve outlined those five well-proven steps in this brand new tool:
