The Most Important Thing You May Be Missing

Feeling blue? Lost your joy? Is life just feeling really, really hard lately? The remedy is simple. It’s highly likely you just need a good dose of Vitamin G! It’s not an herbal, or even man-made, but it has been proven time and time again to elevate happiness and contentment. It’s GRATITUDE!

Sometimes, in the midst of our troubles, we can lose sight of all the things we have to be thankful for. We become blind to everything but the huge mountain of struggles, disappointments and uncertainty that threatens to swallow us up.

So what do we have to be grateful for on those bleak days?

SIMPLE EVERYDAY BLESSINGS: a new day, a warm shower, the smell of fresh coffee, food to eat,  . . . the list goes on and on. Once we pull off the blinders and open our eyes, we can see sweet blessings everywhere. Things you enjoy. The kindnesses of others. The grace of God. Life itself.

GOD’S VERY CHARACTER: Where would we be without his unfailing love and faithfulness? He provides for us. He protects us. He guides us through the scary times and blesses us with his amazing patience even when we are acting like stubborn little children.

HOPE: We have so much hope in Christ. We have not been abandoned. God has made a way for us. He promises that he has good plans for us. He assures us that nothing can separate us from his love. The Bible is full of his never-ending promises.

Even when our life is messy, breaking out a little gratitude helps put things in perspective. When we wake up to the fact that there are good things as well as bad in our lives, we are less inclined to get stuck in grumbling and self-pity. The world takes on a totally different look through the eyes of thankfulness.

“God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today.
Have you used even one to say thank you?”
― William Arthur Ward

“Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.”
— Psalm 107: 8, 15, 21, 31
